FCS is sponsoring The Bucket Ministry project now until Thanksgiving break.
Two donation buckets will be on campus.
Brent Hail, a friend and missionary from Jacksonville, demonstrated a bucket and filter kit at our last FCS meeting. We poured dirty water into an ordinary bucket. A hole was punched near the bottom and a filter was plugged in. The water came out clean, and Mrs. Woodruff drank it! An entire bucket kit for a family of 8/8 people costs $27 and just the filter is even less! One filter will clean, drinking water CLEAN, over one million gallons of water before it needs to be replaced!
As students were having snack and drinking their own bottled water, they learned how clean water is precious and scarce in many places and how that affects children just like them. Students are excited to participate in this project and hope that you support them in their ministry. They will be giving the money to Mr. Hail at Thanksgiving, and he will purchase kits and filters to bless people on his mission trips.
Thank you.

As football season is upon us, we would like to remind students and parents about the expectations for students who attend football games. Students attending football games are expected to sit in the bleachers. Administrators ask that students please not play near the concession stand. If caught loitering in these areas, students will be asked to sit with their parents, or if no parent is present, you will be removed from the event. We appreciate your help with the implementation of these expectations to ensure student safety while giving our fans the opportunity to enjoy the game.

RES Photo Day is October 10th.

The Rusk Elementary School Fellowship of Christian Student Organization is hosting a student led "See You at the Pole" event on Wednesday, September 27th before school.

We are celebrating the "grands" a bit differently this year. Instead of a lunch event, we will host an come and go event after school hours. Stop by, visit, take a look around, and do a bit of Book Fair shopping!

Please make plans to attend Rusk Elementary School Open House on Monday, August 28th!! We want to welcome parents to join educators as partners in the educational process. This opportunity for parents and teachers to meet and connect deserves special attention. We recognize that it may be difficult to arrange child care, but want to create an opportunity where parents can be free to focus on meeting the teacher and listening to their presentation. At the meeting, teachers will cover the basics: Homework Policy, Discipline Policy, Curriculum, and so much more. Teaching is truly an honor and we want parents to trust us every day their most prized possessions.

On Mondays our students are encouraged to wear a t-shirt from a university or college to promote higher education, including two-year vocational education programs and the military. It’s important to begin discussions about their future aspirations.

By 3rd grade most students generally know what kinds of books they like to read. 3rd grade teachers still want to expose them to different literary genres, authors, and titles. One unique way to do this is by hosting our annual RES Book Tasting in the library. This is a great way for students to sample books they may not otherwise come across! Mrs. Sunday did a fabulous job of cooking up a great lesson on genre.

Join us for our first PTO Meeting on August 15th at 6:00pm! We will begin our very first PTO Membership Drive soon.
