40 students in the Rusk High School Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine program attended an educational field trip to the Ellen Trout Zoo in Lufkin. Students began the morning with a
self-guided tour around the zoo, visiting the many animal habitats and educational displays the zoo has to offer. The remainder of the day was full of wonderful experiences exploring the field of Animal Science. This was such an amazing day and opportunity for our students to explore their career and educational options not only within Veterinary Medicine, but within the Animal Science career field as a whole.

The event brought together Rusk tennis players and members of the community for a day of friendly matches, teamwork, and charitable giving. The event raised a total of $626.00 through generous donations from participants and spectators. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society to support breast cancer research.

Some of our SOAR students had a blast last night at the Dallas Stars hockey game! This exciting incentive field trip was a reward for students who consistently show Self-discipline, Ownership, a positive Attitude, and Respect in the classroom. We’re so proud of these outstanding students for leading by example every day.
