Making our mark on Dot Day! 🌟 Our RES students celebrated creativity, courage, and confidence with fun Dot Day activities.

The book "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds has sparked the creation of International Dot Day. This is a day to make your mark! This celebration was started to inspire creativity, courage, and collaboration.

Dear RES Parents: Texas law now requires school districts to distribute information to parents and guardians about the safe storage of firearms. The attached information will help you learn about options for, as well as how to talk to your child and others about, the safe storage of firearms. In 2021, 4,613 Texans experienced gun-related deaths. The Texas Department of State Health Services (SHS) reports that 55% of Texas firearms deaths in 2020 were suicides and that 59% of all suicides in Texas were by firearms. Suicide attempts involving firearms have a 90% fatality rate. Restricting access to guns is critical in reducing acts of violence, whether as self-harm or towards others. Acts of mass violence and interpersonal violence often end in suicide. It is unlawful to store, transport, or abandon an unsecured firearm in a place where children are likely to be and can obtain access to the firearm. Under Texas Penal Code 46.13, a person commits the offense of making a firearm accessible to a child if the child gains access to a readily dischargeable firearm, and the person with criminal negligence: *Failed to secure the firearm; *or Left the firearm in a place to which the person knew or should have known the child would gain access The penalty for allowing a child access to a firearm can range from a Class C misdemeanor(punishable by a $500 fine) to a Class A misdemeanor (punishable by a $4000 fine, a year in jail, or a combination of the two). Texas exempts the purchase of firearm safety equipment from Texas Sales and Use Tax. Remember, a gun should be stored unloaded in a safe or locked container, with ammunition stored elsewhere. Safe gun storage is critical to preventing suicide, unintentional shootings, and other tragedies.

🏈 Rusk ISD Football Game Expectations 🏈 Tonight is Homecoming, and we are expecting a packed house! To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, please help us by reviewing these expectations with your children: ✅ Students should remain in the stands during the game unless visiting the concession stand or restroom. ✅ No running, horseplay, or ball-playing in concession area. ✅ Respectful behavior is expected at all times towards peers, staff, officials, and guests. ✅ Students should follow directions from school personnel and security immediately. Parents, please make sure your children understand these rules before arriving. Multiple district administrators will be on duty tonight to help ensure a safe and positive environment. Let’s show our Eagle pride and make this a Homecoming to remember! ❤️🦅🏈

This morning, our first responders helped us honor September 11th by welcoming students with smiles and encouragement as they arrived at school. We are grateful for their service and the example they set for our children every day and provided them with a special breakfast of appreciation. 🇺🇸

🏈✨ Eagle Homecoming Family Reminder ✨🏈
We love seeing our students at Thursday and Friday night home football games cheering on the Eagles! This week's game will be a well attended game. To keep everyone safe and ensure an enjoyable experience:
✅ Students should remain in the stands to watch the game.
✅ No running, horseplay, or games (football, wall ball, tag, etc..) on stadium grounds.
✅ Please remember to show good sportsmanship and respect for others.
✅ Younger students should be accompanied by an adult.

September 11th is a day we will never forget. As we remember all the brave people who lost their lives that day, we also want to extend our hand of gratitude to our first responders. Thank you for your bravery, courage, and determination in helping others during emergency situations.

Thank you once again to the Rusk Education Foundation! Because of your generosity, teacher grants were fulfilled, and our students are greatly benefiting from these opportunities. We are so grateful for your continued support of our schools and classrooms!

Our PTO is bringing the fun on Thursday!! Students love showing off their spirit with temporary tattoos. Thank you in advance for your support and for keeping smiles shining bright at RES!

Kids are back to school and that means an increase in traffic from school buses 🚌, pedestrians 🚶‍♀, and cyclists. 🚴 ⚠️ Keep them SAFE – slow down in school zones. ⚠️
