Leslie McDaniel is an exceptional teacher at Rusk Elementary. She builds students confidence and tries to turn their extrinsic motivation into intrinsic determination. Regardless if it is a student with a disability or a student for whom English is a second language, Mrs. McDaniel always works toward meeting the students where they are and then lifting them to meet academic expectations. Another quality we admire is that she always works with other teachers training and collaborating. She is always striving to expand her own learning and share with the campus; she has been a great team player!

STAAR Testing will be on Thursday.

One thing that Rusk Elementary School staff members look forward to every spring, is playing baseball with the Unstoppables! It’s always a fun-filled Saturday morning. We love seeing our students thriving in an inclusive environment, reuniting with some former students, and even making new friendships. We appreciate the league for making this experience possible each baseball season.

Cherokee Co. Resource Round Up is happening today!

Parents, here's what you can do to help your students prepare and perform at their best:
★ Make sure they get a good night's rest
★ Offer them a healthy breakfast
★ Have them dress comfortably, complying with the dress code
★ Encourage them to think positively about the test and their abilities
★ Remind them to review work for mistakes
If you would like more information about STAAR, please contact your child's school or visit the TEA website for more tips and sample questions at http://tea.texas.gov/student.assessment/staar/.
Thank you, parents, for all you do to help us prepare your children for success.

RES is organizing a student Color Run to raise money for our school. We anticipate using the money raised to purchase things to enhance student learning and support the social emotional needs of students. Our goal is to add sensory & self regulation stations in the hallways, student showcase stations, small group areas, and so much more...
The event will be held on Monday, May 15th. We will encourage students to wear white on this day. Students will have 30 minutes to run/walk the course. There will be color stations set up along the course. Each lap the students complete, the more colorful they will be.

Kona Ice will be on campus on Thursday!

💕As an elementary school librarian, Mrs. Corley is one person on campus who interacts with every student in every class on a weekly — and for many, daily — basis. Her hours are spent cultivating connections with our 300 students, learning their reading levels and interests, putting the right book in their hands and creating a warm, welcoming space where they feel safe and know they belong.

The FCS students are sponsoring an Egg Hunt during lunch recess on Thursday, April 6th. All RES students are invited to participate. Students who would like to participate will bring $1 to go on the hunt!

Next school year, RES will be organizing a Parent Teacher Organization, that will plan and organize school activities and provide additional support to maximize the educational experience for all children and boost staff morale. More information about how to become involved in the RES PTO will be shared in the coming months. Please stay tuned! 📻
➡️But in the meantime, please help the organization get started by purchasing a $10 digital image of your 2nd and 3rd grader on April 6th. (Forms will be sent home this week.)

Congratulations to this subtraction ninja! 🥷

On Thursdays, tickets are drawn from student incentive buckets in the morning and students participate in their chosen incentive activity throughout the day. These 3rd grade students photographed enjoyed reading aloud to a 2nd grade class and creative library time with friends.

The annual Cherokee County Livestock Show has kicked off another year of excitement. Seeing the kids so excited and ready to show off all of their hard work makes the late nights and early mornings all worth it. We are so proud of their hard work! We wish our Rusk Elementary School students the very best outcome! We can't wait to hear all about it!

We love your face! ❤️

Don't forget tomorrow is picture day!
