Cock-a-doodle-doo 🐣 Mrs. Boudreaux’s and Mrs. Padgett’s students have had an exciting day!! The teachers brought a hatching experience to the classroom. The experience allowed the observation of fertilized chicken eggs, so that the students could see them being hatched. This students diligently worked on an incubation time line to record their observations.

RES welcomed Rusk Police Department Officer Smith to campus last week. He has been making his rounds around town introducing himself to the community. He toured our campus, introduced himself to staff, greeted students, he interacted with students during a game in P.E., and met with students in Mrs. Goldsberry’s classroom and discussed the role of a police officer in the community. Children engaged with and ask questions of the officer, which helps to build trust and familiarity with members of the law enforcement community. We welcome Mr. Smith to our community and invite him to stop by anytime to say hello.

Rusk Elementary School is celebrating a century of reading by rounding up some of the best children’s books from every decade of the last 100 years. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the 100th Day of School and World Read Aloud Day! Whether these glorious stories launched a once-unknown author into the spotlight or created time-honored series and characters we’ll never forget, these memorable classics (of old and new) hold a special place in the hearts of children and adults alike. On Wednesday, we’ll have a day-long book give away and create a campus-wide timeline of our favorite published Children’s books, using student’s book jacket projects.
