We’re thrilled to announce that starting Thursday, September 12th, our students can enjoy delicious ice cream treats during lunch! Please bring $1 on Thursdays or money can be added to your students lunch account on Skyward Family Access .
To ensure the safety and well-being of all our students, we kindly remind you of our campus lunch guest policy: ✪Approved Visitors Only: All lunch guests must be approved visitors listed in Skyward Family Access. Please ensure your information is up to date. ✪Designated Seating: Guests are asked to sit in the designated area of the RES Café during lunch. ✪Respecting Privacy: While we love seeing families enjoy lunch together, we ask that you respect the privacy of other students when taking photos. Please avoid posting pictures publicly that include students other than your own. The first day of school is tomorrow, August 12th, and we want to make sure that parents are aware of times and procedures. Our car drop-off and pick-up procedures have been implemented for efficiency and the safety of our students. Please be patient. The first week always takes longer for arrival and dismissal, so please plan accordingly.
We encourage you to utilize our car drop-off lane for arrival. Parents/guardians may not enter the hallways during drop off. Parents/guardians will not ve able ti walk their child to class the first day. We will have staff members stationed outside and throughout the building to assist with guiding students to class.
Family Assigned Numbers
* Each student will receive an an assigned number prior to the start of school. This number will be used for dismissal. It is important you have this number displayed upon arrival.
* You will receive your Family Assigned Number prior to the first day of school by your child’s teacher.
* We have assigned each grade level a specific paper color. We ask that you use the paper color assigned to your child’s grade to display your Family Assigned.
The first day of school for Rusk Independent School District is Monday, August 12, 2024 from 7:45 AM–4 PM. ➪The first week of school is a five-day week.
As school starts on Monday, remember that traffic is always heavy the first several days of school as parents try to figure out where to drop off students and maneuver multiple school drop off procedures. Try to leave home early and remember patience.
The school doors will open at 7:30. The tardy bell rings and the academic day begins at 7:55 am.
We know the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL can be an emotional time, both for students and for parents. There will be staff on duty at designated drop-off spots to welcome students and assist them out of the car. On the FIRST DAY, if a parent chooses to walk their child to the building, they must park in a designated parking space to ensure traffic is not blocked, and we ask that goodbyes are given at the door in the “Hug Zone”. (Please be mindful that parking is limited. Please do not block handicap parking spaces.) During the first week, upon arrival staff will ask students their homeroom teacher’s name and will offer to walk them to class if needed and help with school supplies. Your kiddos are in great hands!
After the first day, we ask that all cars go through the car line. After the first week, arrivals after 8:00 will be asked to park and walk in to sign their student in at the office.
